I thought it was a great book. For two people who want nothing of virgiina but have everything in common, emotions soon forge an unforeseen bond.
I love his character and though he was the powerful general, I love how Diana could drive him crazy. But after much dithering about writing the review I’ve realised that it’s just a book and while the story no longer works for me, there are lots more out there. But not even Savage guesses Tony’s deepest secret, a masquerade destined to erupt in passionate abandon ehnley one scorching, enslavee night. Also by Virginia Henley. On a trip to Bath a trap to force her to marry Diana comes across an antique shop. This is my third time re reading it and it never gets old.

All the characters in this book are the same through time, except for the aunt and uncle, they were the modern day villains.

But alas, no, she was in fact really back in that time period. Oh and it didn’t hurt that the hero, a Roman, had me envisioning Gerard Butlerya know ish: The first book in the bestselling Mark of the Lion series, A Voice in the Wind brings readers back to the first century and introduces them to a character they will never forget—Hadassah. I stopped reading this just before Petrius did something very bad to his own father in order to get rid of Diana because that was always my most hated part of the book view spoiler [her death slightly traumatised me and I’ve never forgotten it hide spoiler ] and I only read it that first time.
Marcus Magnus was powerful, arrogant, and infuriating. There are three “acts” in this book, and they don’t really fit together as well as they should because so much of what cinches them together relies on heavy suspension of disbelief.
I liked her encounters with the stuffy Earl, and how she flaunted his desire for her at any opportunity, rather than sinking to her knees in a puddle of lust.
