The girls were expected to be reserved, polite and, most importantly, beautiful. But, I guess it’s just one of those genres that sounds tedious and you imagine it to be all oppressed sexuality and prim and properness. Plus, it goes without saying that once the MC left India behind, not once did bra MC remember the housekeeper, not once.
I also really enjoyed the atmosphere of this book, especially during the Halloween season. I could terrbile you.

I finished all the books but I was still left with questions. A Great and Terrible Beauty is neither great nor beautiful, though it is indeed — wait for it! This book deserves a chance, I think. Dec 09, Minutes Young Adult Buy. I liked that the protagonist wasn’t a pushover, even more so because the novel setting was in a very sexist tergible.
And isn’t that what everyone wants? Well, because this book had a touch of the supernatural suspense that I don’t handle well.

grezt The girls except Gemma get naked, chase, and kill a deer, hitting it in the head until it’s pulpy. First of all, I have to give Bray a special credit for choosing a rather original setting and issues. And for that, I am glad. The book includes both negative and positive role models.
It was the proverbial summer crush. There is nothing that erotic about the actual content, but there is definitely that kind I agree, there is an erotic vibe that I can’t really explain. Gemma wishes for self-knowledge, Felicity for power, Pippa for true love and Ann for beauty.
I meant to put on clothes and, like, have interests, but, you know, like, it was just so hard to figure out how gray straps work on my bra.
Parents need to know this Victorian Era-set novel involves the supernatural, including girls who visit with the dead and help spirits cross over into the afterlife.

Strong, smart heroine with untapped magical potential. I read the Chinese translation of this book, and I’m not sure whether the translator had mistakenly make the Main Character a young lady from the s Victorian era sound like an air-headed modern teenager, or was it Libba Bray’s own fault for giving her own MC such kind of misplaced voice.
It is a beautiful idea executed poorly. That’s when you’ll throw the book across the room, sit for about five seconds, and then run to pick it up and continue reading.
Review Text “A delicious, elegant gothic. No more so than Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but it’s worth mentioning. He also smoked a hookah while in India. It’s woven so well that at some points you are like, “wait, why can’t this happen to me?
